offers a rich carnet of cultural and sporting events, performances, shows, reviews, and
exhibitions. A constantly changing calendar where nevertheless the important events are
repeated every year."If in Trentino in
Summer" is the initiative which includes the cultural events held in
Trentino during the sammer. The following are on the programme this year:
"The Sounds of the Dolomites", a unique series of packed
concerts by respected musicians held in the Alpine refuges, with the most beautiful
mountains in the background.
Vinum Bonum, which in July and August will give the tourists the
possibilityto visit the most beautiful wine cellars in Trentino.
St.Vigilio's Festivities: on the occasion of the festivities for
Trento’s Patron Saint, the martyr San Vigilio, the city comes to life with the
carousel of the Feste Vigiliane. Every year Trento welcomes the arrival of summer with
celebrations and colours recalling the old traditions of the city. Medieval and
Renaissance games of the city’s districts such as the “Palio
dell’Oca”, the “Mascherada dei Ciusi e dei Gobi”, the
“Tonca” are revived in period costumes. The Trento of the Council therefore
comes back with the inhabitants of the time in the spectacular scenery of frescoed houses,
gay streets and popular enjoyment. Feste Vigiliane will take place froml 24 to 27 June,
1999.
Many other festivals of art, film and dance are held over the summer period. Among the
most well-known are Festival Mozart (in Rovereto), Pergine Spettacolo Aperto (in Pergine),
Oriente Occidente (in Rovereto), Drodesera (in Dro, in the Valle dei Laghi), Musica Riva
(in Riva), Artesella (in Valle di Sella), Trento Musica Antica and Sacred Music Festival.
